Based on research by Dr. Roger Ulrich, Director of The Center for Health Design, who found that art with expansive views of nature substantially improved outcomes such as blood pressure, anxiety, intake of pain medication and length of hospital stay, Ellen Joseph founded the Art for Healing Environments project. Through this work, paintings and murals that reflect the serenity of nature, add color and life to harsh hospital environments, and patients appreciate a visual antidote to their stress.
